  0 Carly DeMarque | February 02nd, 2017 | High School, News

In the United State, boys high school volleyball is a sport on the rise, with more schools and states trying to add the sport to their lineups.

Unlike with girls volleyball, where the sport takes place in all 50 states, boys volleyball is only a sanctioned sport in 22 states. Throughout the 22 states, there are 2,333 schools that offer boys volleyball and 55,417 participants. California has the most participation for boys with 759 schools allowing boys volleyball, followed by Pennsylvania with 213 schools and Illinois with 199. In the state of Alaska, there is only one school that has boys volleyball as a sanctioned sport, however there are other schools throughout the state that offer mixed competition.

Many states have yet to determine their current year’s state tournaments, once they are determined, it will be updated.
