2017 Promotional Schedule Set For Illinois Volleyball

  0 volleymob | August 11th, 2017 | Big Ten, College - Women's Indoor, News

The Illinois volleyball team announced a full slate of marketing promotions for home matches at Huff Hall in 2017. The 12th annual Stuff Huff (September 8), IlliNOISE Night (October 7) and Kids Take Over Huff Hall (November 18) highlight the list of Fighting Illini volleyball promotions.

One of the most popular Illini promotions, Stuff Huff returns for its 12th season on Friday, September 8 as the Illini open the home schedule and the 2017 Big Ten/Pac-12 Challenge against defending national champion Stanford at 7 p.m. CT. Stuff Huff is renowned for its vast crowds, as the Illini have averaged over 2,800 fans per game, with 3,000+ crowds in 2006, 2012, 2013 and 2015. Prior to the match, Spike Squad and the DIA Marketing & Promotions staff will host an outdoor carnival for Illinois students in the grass lot just south of Huff Hall. The event will feature inflatables, free food, a DJ and will provide a chance for new students to meet other Illini fans before the first match of the year.

The fourth-annual IlliNOISE Night is set for Friday, October 6 when Illinois battles with Purdue at 7 p.m. CT. It has been said by coaches, opponents, fans and media members alike that Huff Hall has the loudest volleyball atmosphere in the country, and the Fighting Illini plan to prove it. The Marketing & Promotions Staff will be giving away earplugs and taking a decibel meter reading during the match to put a number to just how loud Huff Hall truly is. In the first three years of IlliNOISE Night, the Huff Hall crowd hit a decibel reading of 105 dB, 107 dB and 112 dB, respectively, to establish just how loud Huff is. This season, the Illini will attempt to break that record yet again.

The first-ever Kids Take Over the Court Night will be on Saturday, November 18 as the Illini play host to Minnesota at 7 p.m. CT. Fifteen kids have the opportunity to join the game day athletics staff, assisting with a variety of promotions staff responsibilities such as taking tickets, running marketing promotions and working with the public address announcer. Registration is now open online through Friday, November 10.
