After the second day of play, the top teams at the 2017 CEV European Women’s Championship dominated the field. Coming out of Italy and Serbia were Italy’s Paola Egonu with a monster 32 point performance while Serbia’s Tijana Boskovic ruled the court with 27 points.
Italy took down Belarus in a four-set match were Egonu went off taking control and leading the Italians to victory. This all happened with Boskovic has awakened for the Serbians. After a slow and rough start at the 2017 FIVB World Grand Prix, Boskovic broke out in the final weeks and finals and his continuing her dominance, as the team defeated a tournament favorite, the Netherlands in three sets.
In other strong performances, Russia has continued their run in the tournament with a win over Turkey despite their coach being fired just hours before the tournament started.
