Grand Canyon set a school attendance record on Thursday as the Lopes played host to BYU with 3,314 fans packing GCU Arena.
The crowd was more than 700 larger than the previous mark of 2,604 set on Feb. 24, 2017 when the Lopes welcomed then No. 1 Ohio State to Phoenix.
We've said it before and we'll say it again, we have the best fans in the country. Our old attendance record of 2,604 was SHATTERED tonight. 3,314 came out to @GCUArena and showed their support. Thank you, fans! #LopesRising pic.twitter.com/Vo7WLwyhgX

The attendance mark got us thinking about overall men’s volleyball attendance thus far in 2018.
Based on attendance average, Hawaii is at the top of the list, welcoming 21,205 fans to the Stan Sherriff Center, an average of 3,534. It is no surprise when looking at the individual match attendance list below as the Rainbow Warriors have packed in 2000 or more fans at six matches so far.
BYU is not far behind in season total (19,678) and average (3,280) with six matches over 2,000.
Grand Canyon is now third in cumulative attendance (9,914) and ranks fourth in attendance average (1,416).
UC Irvine (8,591) and Ohio State (8,065) round out the top five in season total.
UCI is fourth in attendance average (1,416) followed by Long Beach State (1,144) and Ohio State (1,011).
