The University of Nevada, Las Vegas women’s volleyball program has signed junior college transfer Antonette Rolda from Saddleback College. A 5’7″ setter, Rolda will be a junior in the fall with two years left of play and should be immediately eligible.
A former attendee of Trabuco Hills High School, Rolda went from her prep career to Cal State University at Dominguez Hills in the Division II classification. At the college, she played and started in all 26 matches, totaling 680 assists (6.87 per set), 192 digs (1.94 per set), 17 aces (0.17 per set) and 17 kills (0.17 per set) for a team that went 9-17.
Following a year at CSUDH, Rolda came to Saddleback College and in her lone season with the team recorded 530 assists (6.88 per set), 121 digs (1.57 per set), 33 aces (0.43 per set) and 21 kills (0.27 per set). Those numbers led to her being named to the All-Orange Empire Conference team in leading her school to a 19-9 record in 2017. She was also a member of the school’s beach team.
Rolda isn’t the only transfer coming to UNLV in 2018 either, as she joins sophomore middle blocker Macy Smith from South Dakota State.
It’s also an addition at a position of need for the Rebels, who currently don’t have any setters on their 2018 roster. UNLV is coming off of an 8-23 season in which they went 4-14 in the Mountain West Conference.
