Turkish power Eczacıbaşı VitrA has added Serbian setter Maja Ognjenović for the 2016-2017 season as they try and keep pace with VakifBank in the Turkish National League.
32-year old veteran Serbian setter Maja Ognjenović is the club’s latest acquisition, as she joins American middle blocked Rachael Adams as big-name signings this off-season.
Ognjenović, who captained Serbia as a part of their silver medal winning Olympic indoor team at the Olympics this summer, has good size at 6-feet tall, though doesn’t have huge vertical leaping ability (she’s listed with a 300cm spike and a 293cm block, or 9’10” and 9’7″ respectively.
Ognjenović was named the Best Setter at the 2015 European Championship tournament where Serbia took a bronze medal – the only Serbian to earn an individual honor.
