Pac-12: #21 UCLA Records Historic Road Win at #17 Washington

21st-ranked UCLA overcame 17th-ranked Washington on the road for the first time since 2003, ending a 9-match losing streak against the Huskies overall. 16th-ranked Oregon, RV Arizona, 2nd-ranked Stanford, Utah and 20th-ranked Washington State also earned Friday night Pac-12 wins.

#21 UCLA def. #17 Washington 3-1 (26-24, 25-19, 22-25, 25-23)

21st-ranked UCLA came out on top in 4 sets of a battle on the road at 17th-ranked Washington Friday night to extend its Pac-12 winning streak to 4 in a row. The Bruins used a .235 attack percentage and a strong service performance (6 to 1), while holding the Huskies to a .196 attack percentage, to secure the victory.

Sophomore Mac May tallied a career-high 27 kills in the Bruins first win in Alaska Airlines Arena over the Huskies since Oct. 3, 2003. The win snapped a 9-match losing streak for UCLA against Washington.

Stanford’s block was outstanding, as the Cardinal outdid their opponent 21 to 9 at the net, to remain perfect in the all-time series with Oregon State 67-0.

Even without outside hitter Taylor Mims, 20th-ranked Washington State overcame 20th-ranked USC in a 5-set battle in Pullman, Wash., Friday night. Though the Trojans led the way in blocks (16 to 11) and service aces (8 to 4), the Cougars posted a .231 attack percentage to claim the victory. Errors killed USC’s efforts, as they committed 12 at the service line and 30 on the attack to hit .177.
