Former Big Brother (Philippines) participant in 2016, and current a soap opera actress, 18-year-old youngster Kristine Charlotte Hammond will make her debut for Colegio San Agustin-Biñan in the inaugural Philippine Superliga Collegiate Grand Slam, due to start in November 3. The 5’4″ spiker knows that chances at winning in the UAAP can be just as brutal as in reality shows though, specially considering that she’ll have to go against very tough, more experienced teams such as La Salle and UST.
This will be CSA-Biñan’s only 2nd season as a club, but Hammond is choosing to focus instead on her long term development, than in the team’s immediate success. She recently spoke to Spin.ph about her decision to stay away from showbiz at the moment and focus on her volleyball career:
“When it comes to volleyball, it’s really my biggest passion. I know that we are underdogs, since we are a small team. For us, the important thing is to further develop our game and gain some exposure. I know that some teams, like UST, are really good. We know we are a very short team, but when it comes to playing the ball, we know we’ll have plenty of chances to win.
I stayed for three months in the Big Brother house. It’s very different from playing sports really. But it was a good stepping stone to get to know myself too. My acting career is still going on, but now part-time because I want to finish my studies and volleyball really is my passion. Volleyball will now be my priority.”
