Invitations were sent to chiefs of the 134 nations to be a part of the 18th World Military Women’s Volleyball Championship, which will contested at the Mayport Naval Station in Florida, June 2-11. Mayport is located 30 minutes from Jacksonville.
The event, which is organized by the International Military Sports Council (CISM), will feature one team from each of the interested countries, while submit their participation agreement by May 1. All athletes must be military personnel on full active duty for their respective nations.
The Top 10 ranked CISM women’s teams as of January were:

2. China
3. Canada
4. Germany
5. Netherlands
6. USA
7. Italy
8. Vietnam
9. Greece
10. Venezuela
The 36th WMC Men’s Volleyball competition will take place in Canada in 2018.
In 2017, the CISM also will host the 2nd World Military Beach Volleyball Championship Nov. 6-13 at the Brazilian Army Physical Training Center in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Invitations were sent to 135 countries, with each permitted to bring four male and four female athletes.
The FIVB and CISM began a four-year collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding during the 2016 Olympics in Rio. The goal of the partnership is to promote volleyball within militaries around the world.
CISM is an international sports association composed of Armed Forces of member nations officially recognized by the United Nations, whose goal is to promote sports and physical activity between armed forces to foster world peace.
