World Series of Beach Volleyball

The World Series of Beach Volleyball, a combination of concert, recreational volleyball and FIVB sanctioned beach volleyball, is coming to Long Beach, July 13-16.
Some of the biggest names in beach volleyball will be at the event in a USA vs. the World format. Tickets are on sale now, but if you can’t make it to the beach, take it in from your living room and watch live on ESPN. General admission is free for Thursday and Friday, but $10 tickets are required to access the Stadium Court on Saturday and Sunday for the semifinals and medal matches.
The WSOBV just announced the participant slate and it is a packed field.
Playing for the American men are: Billy Allen/Stafford Slick; Theo Brunner/Casey Patterson; Taylor Crabb/Jacob Gibb; Trevor Crabb/Sean Rosenthal; Phil Dalhausser/Nick Lucena; John Hyden/Ryan Doherty; Casey Jennings/Bill Kolinske; and Marty Lorenz/Mark Burik.
Dalhausser/Lucena currently rank eighth on the FIVB World Tour, while Brunner/Patterson are #12 and Hyden/Doherty are #15.
The world will be represented by top teams including: Brazil’s Alvaro Filho/Saymon (#3); Poland’s Piotr Kantor/Bartosz Losiak (#4); the Netherland’s Alexander Brouwer/Robert Meeuwsen (#7); Spain’s Pablo Herrera/Adrian Gavira (#8) and Germany’s Markus Bockerman/Lars Fluggen (#16).
On the women’s side, the Americans will include Brooke Sweat/Summer Ross (#5); Emily Day/Brittany Hochevar (#9), Kimberly DiCello/Emily Stockman (#15) as well as new 2017 pairings of April Ross/Lauren Fendrick and Kerri Walsh Jennings/Nicole Branagh.
It is a stacked roster on the world side with six teams among the FIVB World Tour Top 15: Brazil’s Larissa/Talita (#2); Germany’s Julia Sude/Chantal Laboureur (#4), Canadians Sarah Pavan/Melissa Humana-Parades (#8); Brazil’s Lili/Josi (#12); Switzerland’s Joana Heidrich/Anouk Verge-Depre (#13) and Canada’s Brandie Wilkerson/Heather Bansley (#15).
