Cuneo has announced in its official website the signing of Júlia Kavalenka to its roster. The 19-year-old 6’4″ Portuguese national teamer outside hitter is transferring out of Poland’ Budowlani Toruń and is set to undergo her second season abroad. She has served the Portuguese national team since she was 14 years old.
Here are her first words as a member of Cuneo:
“I’m really very happy for this great opportunity that was granted to me. I can proudly say that I will live a dream playing at such a high level. It will be a difficult and very interesting season, experienced in one of the best championships in Europe and the world. I can not wait to start breathing the great Italian volleyball and, of course, to start getting to know the reality of Cuneo: a city where I want to work hard to improve my skills.”
Cuneo was only recently promoted into Italy’s top tier league. Since then, it has worked hard to field a competent roster for its maiden season:
Giulia Mancini – middle blocker transferring out of Scandicci
Marina Zambelli – middle blocker transferring out of France’s Le Cannet
Selime Ilyasoğlu – outside hitter transferring out of Romania’s Alba Blaj
Lise Van Hecke – opposite hitter transferring out of Pesaro
Jole Ruzzini – libero transfering out of France’s Cannes
Srna Marković – outside hitter transferring out of Marignano
Anna Kaczmar – setter transferring out of Poland’s Developres Skyres Rzeszow
Francesca Bosio – setter transferring out of Fillotrano
