An all-Brazil gold medal final saw Saymon Barbosa and Magliano Alvaro pick up the win at the Fort Lauderdale Major in a 2-0 sweep of fellow Brazilians Evandro/Loyola.

Gold Medal Final

Barbosa/Alvaro never trailed, building big leads in both sets and hanging on for gold. A 21-15 first set saw the teams go back and forth over the first 20 points, with an Evandro kill finally pushing things to a 9-7 lead, the biggest lead at that point in the match. But from there, the top Brazilian crew started to press its advantage, eventually hitting 15-10 and coasting from there.

The second set was a quicker start for Barbosa/Alvaro. They went up 7-2 on with a big early run, and eventually pushed to 12-6. Evandro/Loyola fought back and cut things to 17-20, but by then, the damage was done.

Bronze Medal Final

In a tight bronze medal match between Americans Lucena/Dalhausser and Hyden/Doherty, the former won 2-1 after dropping the first set. It was a very back-and-forth opening set until Hyden earned a big break point at 6-7 to start a run to 11-7. That eventually set up a 21-14 win for Hyden/Doherty.

In the second set, it was Dalhausser/Lucena who earned the key break points to jump on an early lead, hitting 11-8 and eventually winning 21-13. In the third, a fast start propelled Dalhausser/Lucena up to a 6-2 advantage that culminated in a 15-10 win for bronze.
