Argentina has become the 6th team to qualify for the 2017 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championships. They’ll join teams from the USA, Egypt, China, Iran, and the hosts from the Czech Republic in Brno and Ceske Budejovice, along with 10 other teams yet to be qualified.
The Argentine men earned their spot by winning the CSV South American U21 Men’s Championships in October. They played greedy hosts, winning the tournament ahead of Brazil in front of a home crowd in Bariloche, Argentina.
Each federation gets 2 automatic qualifiers, with Europe getting 3 in addition to the slot reserved for the Czech hosts. NORCECA and CSV (North America and South America) have each held one slot open for the U21 Pan American Cup that runs from March 12th-20th, 2017 in Canada. Cuba and Canada will be the favorites to take those spots.
Africa, meanwhile, will have their 2nd slot awarded at the next FIVB Sports Events Council meeting. Egypt won their U21 continental tournament, but Morocco was the only other participant.
Europe, meanwhile, has yet to award either of its spots, nor have they confirmed at which tournament those spots will be given.
