American player Arielle Love and German player Luisa Schimer will be joining AEK Larnaca volley in Cyprus for the 2018-19 season.
Love, from Ohio, played for Duquesne University in Pittsburgh for four seasons where in her junior year managed to lead the Atlantic 10 division in hitting percentage (.371) and was ranked sixth in kills with 262.
Following her senior year with Duquesne, Love moved to England to study and play at the University of East London. Following her studies there, she went on to sign her first professional contract with the Pocari Sweat-Air Force Lady Warriors in the Philippines’ Premier Volleyball League where she was once again a high scorer.

Luisa Schirmer also played in the United States at the beginning of her career. Schirmer played with the Ohio State Buckeyes where she posted 1043 kills and 1004 digs to be part of en elite group of performers who have broken the 1000 mark in both kills and digs. In 2017 during her senior year she led the team with 352 kills and 21 aces. She was named an AVCA All-Northeast Region honorable mention.
Following her stint in the NCAA Schirmer signed her first pro contract with Asterix Avo Volley in Belgium, competing in the Belgium Liga A league (their top division).
Both offensive players are already listed on the Cyprus roster. They’ll be strong additions to a team that recently lost the Super Cup match 3-2 to Lefkotheos.
