Former New Mexico State indoor player Jordan Abalos is transferring to Arizona for to continue her collegiate play in the sand. A senior this season indoors, Abalos suffered an injury and is listed as a redshirt junior for the beach season.
A 5’11” outside hitter with the Aggies, Abalos came to New Mexico State from Safford, Arizona. She immediately made her presence known as a freshman and was named to the All-WAC Freshman Team. She continued to contribute as a sophomore and took a big jump in performance the following season.
As a junior in 2016, Abalos made the All-WAC First-Team when she notched 3.70 kills per set and 2.90 digs per set. Unfortunately she was unable to catapult off it as a senior, as she suffered a season-ending injury after 14 matches.
In total for her four seasons, Abalos totaled 852 kills and 29 double-doubles when combining her overall play that she will take to the beach.
Arizona is coming off of a 17-10 season and has a 2018 roster that now features 18 players including Abalos. She is currently listed as a hybrid on the roster, meaning she could be a blocker or defender for the team.
