Arizona State Hires Burbridge & Morena As Assistant Coaches

Arizona State continues to add to their coaching staff by bringing in Amanda Burbridge and Carlos Moreno as the teams assistant coaches.

Burbridge is a former Sun Devil (1997-2000) and the first addition to Sanja Tomasevic’s coaching staff. In her playing career with Arizona State, Burbridge tallied 1,597 kills – the fifth most in program history. In her 2000 season, she recorded 599 kills on the season, an ongoing record for the program. She is one of only eight players in Arizona State history to end their career with 1,000 digs.

Since the conclusion of her collegiate career, Burbridge has spent the past 16 years coaching at the youth, high school and collegiate levels. Most recently, Burbridge was head coach of Phoenix College for the past eight seasons. She also owns Revolution Volleyball Academy in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Moreno joins the Sun Devils after previously serving as a graduate assistant with Southern Mississippi University. Moreno was in charge of a number of facets with the team in his one year tenure with the team – on-court coaching, recruiting, fundraising and compliance.

Prior to his time with Southern Mississippi, Moreno coached in his native land of Brazil, including time as the women’s head coach with the University of Sao Paulo from 2000-2002.

In his playing career, Moreno was an AVCA and MPSF Player of the Year player with BYU. Moreno amassed 4,628 assists in his three seasons with the Cougars – second most in program history – also adding 78 career aces – fourth most in program history.

Moreno also competed professionally for 11 seasons, ending his career as a captain with TLM – Volley in France.
