Arkas Izmir’s Marko Mitic Will Miss 6 Weeks With Broken Finger

Arkas Izmir‘s middle-blocker Marko Matic will be sidelined for at least 6 weeks to undergo surgery to fix a broken pinky finger, according to Turkish website Voleybolplus.com. The absence of Bosnian-born, but Turkish naturalized, 22-year-old 6’11” Matic will be a heavy loss for Arkas, as the player’s performance up until now was good enough to earn him a spot in the Turkish League’s Mid-Season Dream Team Squad.

If the club is enjoying a comfortable 4th place in the Turkish League standings with a 8-3 record, that is not the case in its 2018 CEV Champions League run. Matic will miss at least 2 Champions League matches, which can be disastrous for the club, as it has already lost its first two games, a 3-0 loss to Poland’s Zaksa and a 3-2 loss to Belgium’s Noliko.
