After leading Austin Peay to a 30-6 mark, the Ohio Valley Conference  regular season and tournament titles and an NCAA Tournament berth, head coach Taylor Mott has been awarded a four-year contract through 2021.

The new deal for the OVC Coach of the Year is the first multi-year contract for a volleyball coach in school history and includes a base salary increase as well as bonuses for team achievements on the court and in the classroom.

Mott just completed her sixth season with the Lady Govs and 19th overall, notching her 400th career victory and 100th at Austin Peay during the 2017 campaign. Her career tallies now stand at 412 overall and 108 at APSU.

“We are excited to announce this special agreement with Taylor and our volleyball program,” athletics director Ryan Ivey said in the announcement. “Taylor has done a phenomenal job of building our volleyball program, which culminated in this year’s special season, and this agreement, the first ever for Austin Peay volleyball, shows our commitment to her and our volleyball program.

“Taylor and her staff have changed our volleyball program for the better, and has built upon the foundation laid before them. I look forward to watching our volleyball program grow under Taylor’s guidance and leadership. I am confident that we have the right leadership that will continue to drive our future success.”

Success on the court brought multiple honors to the team. Mott was named OVC Coach of the Year, while senior middle blocker Ashley Slay and junior setter Kristen Stucker were named the conference’s Player and Setter of the Year respectively.

In the classroom, the Lady Govs have earned the AVCA Team Academic Award four years in a row. Individually, Stucker garnered CoSIDA Academic All-America second team honors as well as the OVC Scholar-Athlete Award.

Austin Peay loses just two players, Slay and libero Allie O’Reilly, from this year’s squad.
