AVP New York Open

The AVP Tour is continuing with an event in New York City, the third on the tour and the first of the Gold Series events for the year. The Gold Series is a new elevated level of competition for three events on the AVP Tour. These events give the players the opportunity to earn more prize money for competing, with the total purse prize coming to $175,000 for New York.

This is the third year that the tour makes a stop in New York, with the event taking place on the Hudson River Pier, just half a mile from the One World Trade Center. The New York stop is the only event in the Eastern Time Zone in the most populous city in the United States.

Event Schedule

  • June 8 – Qualification Round
  • June 9 – Opening Rounds of Main Draw
  • June 10 – Elimination Rounds of Main Draw
  • June 11 – Semifinals & Finals

The top 12 seeded teams advance straight on to the main draw of the event, while the remaining pairs have to fight through the first day to make the main draw.

Highlighting the men’s side of the tournament is Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena, as they take the top seed in the tournament. The pair has won the previous two stops on the tour at Huntington Beach and Austin.

On the women’s side of the draw, Emily Day and Brittany Hochevar take the top seed with 2,535 points accumulated this year, with Lauren Fendrick and April Ross taking a close second with 2,310 points. Day/Hochevar won the first event in Huntington Beach, while Ross and, partner at the time, Whitney Pavlik won Austin.
