The 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia are less than three months away, with the beach pools having been determined. This is the first year that beach volleyball has been offered as a sport at the Commonwealth Games, as it has become a rising sport around the world.
12 men’s and women’s teams will compete in the competition that has three pools of four teams. The first 4 days of play will consist of preliminary play, with the semifinals taking place on April 10 followed up with the finals on April 11.
Each team competing in the competition has had to qualify with each country having their own set of rules for selecting their participants. Many countries are still in the process of selecting their potential participants, using tournaments throughout the country to make their selections along with other international events, such as FIVB World Tour finishes. In the meantime, the pools have been determined based off country alone, with just one team allotted from each country per gender.

On the women’s side of the competition, New Zealand has selected their participants for the competition as Kelsi Wills and Shaunna Polley. Also having selected their competitors are Scotland as they picked Lynee Beattie and Melissa Coutts.
