Brazilian’s Hold Strong On Money Awarded During 2017 FIVB World Tour

There have been six men’s and women’s event on the FIVB World Beach Tour this 2017 season. Like in many other aspects of the beach volleyball game, the Brazilian’s lead in money earned so far this season.

On both the men’s and women’s side of money earned so far this season, the top-three positions go to Brazilian squads.

2017 FIVB World Tour Events – So Far

Fort Lauderdale Major – co-ed – 5-star

  • Men’s winners – Saymon Barbosa/Magliano Alvaro (Brazil) – $40,000 payout
  • Women’s winners – Larissa Maestrini/Talita Antunes (Brazil) – $40,000 payout

Kish Island – men’s – 3-star

  • Men’s winner – Nikita Liamin/Viacheslav Krasilnikov (Russia) – $11,000 payout

Shepparton – co-ed – 1-star

  • Men’s winner – Christopher McHugh/Damien Schumann (Australia) – $2,000 payout
  • Women’s winner – Julie Gordon/Camille Saxton (Canada) – $2,000 payout

Sydney – women’s – 2-star

  • Women’s winner – Julie Gordon/Camille Saxton (Canada) – $6,000 payout

Langkawi – co-ed – 1-star

  • Men’s winner – Nivaldo Diaz/Sergio Gonzalez (Cuba) – $2,000 payout
  • Women’s winner – Kimberly Dicello/Emily Stockman (USA) – $2,000 payout

Xiamen – co-ed – 3-star

  • Men’s winner – Alexander Brouwer/Robert Meeuwsen (The Netherlands) – $8,000 payout
  • Women’s winner – Barbara Seixas/Fernanda Alves (Brazil) – $8,000 payout

Rio de Janeiro – co-ed – 4-star

  • Men’s winner – Bruno Schmidt/Alison Cerutti (Brazil) – $20,000 payout
  • Women’s winner – Agatha Bednarczuk/Eduarda ‘Duda’ Santos Lisboa (Brazil) – $20,000 payout

On top of the money list for the men, this year is Brazil’s Barbosa/Filho with $46,000 after two events. The pair won the first event of the season – Fort Lauderdale – which was a five-star event that has the highest payout rate of $40,000. Coming in second is Brazil’s Evandro Goncalves/Andre Loyola with $36,000 after two events and rounding out the top-three are Brazil’s Cerutti/Schmidt and Poland’s Piotr Kantor/Bartosz Losiak with $32,000 (tied).

On the women’s side of things, Brazil’s Bednarczuk/Lisboa top the money board with $52,000 after two events. Second place is Brazil’s Talita/Larissa with $46,000 and third place goes to Brazil’s Alves/Seixas with $28,000.

Coming up on the FIVB World Beach Tour is the three-star Moscow tournament, that will be the final determinant for the Vienna, World Championships at the end of the season. There, the pairs will have the opportunity to add $11,000 to their totals as the top prize.
