CAA Recognizes Brind’Amour, Rhodes, Skinner with Week 1 Honors

RICHMOND, Va.  – James Madison junior outside hitter Briley Brind’Amour was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while McKala Rhodes of College of Charleston took home Defensive Player of the Week and Hofstra’s Aisha Skinner garnered Rookie of the Week honors.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Briley Brind’Amour, James Madison
Junior | Outside Hitter | Wake Forest, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons

Brind’Amour helped the Dukes close out the Tropical Smoothie Invitational with a bang, tallying a career high 22 kills and hitting .333 in a 3-1 victory over a Missouri team receiving votes in the AVCA Preseason Top 25. She had a .308 hitting percentage over four matches and knocked down 52 kills, earning herself a spot on the Tropical Smoothie Invitational All-Tournament Team. Brind’Amour also contributed a team-high 15 kills in the 3-2 loss to Wichita State.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

McKala Rhodes, College of Charleston

Rhodes started her senior campaign with double-digit digs in each of the Cougars’ three games this weekend, helping her team to victory twice against opponents receiving votes in the AVCA Preseason Top 25. She averaged 4.08 digs per set and had a .966 receive percentage. In the 3-2 comeback win against Missouri State on Friday night, Rhodes notched 20 digs and closed out the weekend with 18 against Alabama.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Aisha Skinner, Hofstra
Freshman | Right Side | Berlin, Germany/SLZB

On her debut weekend with the Pride, Skinner helped lift Hofstra to a 2-1 record with 34 kills, 21 digs and 12 blocks at the Hilton Penn’s Landing Temple Invitational. Her .310 attack percentage and 13 kills aided the Pride in sweeping Rhode Island for their first win of the season. She provided an all-around effort in the team’s 3-2 win over Temple, tallying nine kills, 10 digs and six blocks.
