GREENSBORO, N.C. – Florida State’s Payton Caffrey has been selected as the ACC Volleyball Player of the Week, and Syracuse’s Polina Shemanova has been named Freshman of the Week.
Caffrey and the Seminoles went 2-0 on the weekend, defeating Boston College and handing Syracuse its first home loss of the year. The junior outside hitter from Chuluota, Florida, led Florida State to a season-high 72 kills against Syracuse, the second-best mark by an ACC team this year. Caffrey also racked up 26 kills in the match, the second-most in league play. She notched 43 total kills with a .375 hitting percentage and 15 digs on the weekend.

Shemanova shined for the Orange against Miami and Florida State. The rookie outside hitter from St. Petersburg, Russia, racked up at least 25 kills in both matches, highlighted by a 30-kill performance against the Seminoles, the best mark in league play this year and the most by an ACC player since November of 2017. Shemanova tallied 55 total kills on a .325 hitting percentage and 28 digs on the weekend. She averaged 6.10 kills per set and 3.10 digs per set across the two matches.
