Campbell University, in Buies Creek, North Carolina, is the latest team to cancel volleyball matches this weekend as category 4 Hurricane Florence approaches the coast of the Carolinas. Campbell University is located directly on the projected path of the storm, but about 100 miles inland – where hurricanes generally have begun to lose force, but can still be very dangerous and life-threatening storms.

Loyola (Maryland), North Carolina Central, and Mercer were scheduled to compete in the Campbell Invitational this weekend. Loyola has been able to pick up a match against La Salle University on Thursday, September 13th at Reitz Arena. La Salle, located in Philadelphia, will already be in Baltimore to participate in the Towson Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The Explorers will enter the game on a 4-match winning streak.

Campbell has also cancelled a solo match against South Carolina State scheduled for Tuesday evening.

Campbell is 2-8 so far this season.

The Campbell Camels return to action next weekend to begin Big South play with a trip to Charleston Southern on Sept. 21 at 6 p.m (which will be dependent on any storm damage that might inhibit travel to coastal Charleston).
