Canadian National Team outside hitter/libero Brianna Beamish will play professionally in Switzerland next season with TS Volley Dudingen Powercats, who play in western Switzerland about 25km southwest of the capital Bern.

The 25-year old played collegiately at the University of British Columbia – Okanagan, where she was primarily an outside hitter. While she’s mostly played a reserve roll at outside hitter for Canada’s National Team, including at the 2017 Grand Prix and as part of the 2018 NORCECA qualifier to the Nations League, she’s also served some time as libero – including at the 2017 NORCECA Women’s World Championship qualifier.

She is expected to be positioned as an outside hitter in Switzerland, with the club saying that they hope the signing will bring “more stability in precision in passing and additional efficiency in the attack.”

Beamish made her professional debut last year with RC Cannes in the French league. While jumping from the French runners-up to a team that finished 3rd in the Swiss league is a small demotion quality of competition, the move should give Beamish a bigger opportunity to play.

Beamish stands 180 cm (5’11”) tall and will likely have at least one more appointment with Canada before heading to Switzerland: as part of the National Team for this summer’s World Championships, which begin on September 29th in Japan.
