Clemson bolstered its roster with the addition of Caroline Pearson, a transfer from Arizona State. Pearson is one of eight players to transfer off of the Arizona State roster before the 2017 season and will come to Clemson as a junior with two years left of eligibility.

A 5’9″ setter from Chicago, Illinois, Pearson spent 2016 as part of Arizona State in the Pac-12. She appeared in 13 matches with nine starts and logged 250 assists (5.95 per set) and 62 digs (1.48 per set). A year prior, she was a freshman at the University of Denver, where she played in seven matches and recorded 40 assists.

“We are thrilled to have Caroline join the Clemson family,” Clemson head coach Michaela Franklin said in the team’s release of the transfer. “She is an intense competitor and will fit perfectly with our offensive system. She comes to Clemson with a tremendous amount of experience, and what I enjoyed learning the most about Caroline during her recruiting process is that she truly is a team player. She will have an impact not only on the court, but will also build strong and meaningful relationships with her teammates.”

Before her college career, Pearson played at New Trier High School in her prep days. She was on the AVCA Under-Armour All-America Watch List in 2014 after participating in the USA Volleyball Junior National A1 Program.

Clemson has four setters on the roster including Pearson. Keely Hayes, a senior in 2017, was the team-leader in assists last season. Beyond that, Clemson has an incoming freshman, a player who is also listed as a defensive specialist (Ally Gamble) and now Pearson.

Clemson went 6-26 last season, as they finished last in the ACC with a 1-19 mark. They last made the NCAA Tournament in 2009.
