Carthage Claims First Ever African Women’s Club Championship Title

Tunisia’s Club Feminin de Carthage defeated Egypt’s Shams in five sets 3-2, (16-25, 25-17, 26-24, 20-25, 15-11) to win the 2017 Women’s African Club Championship – the first time they have won in the history of their program.

To lead Carthage was Khouloud Jenhani with 23 points and was awarded as the Best Server in the competition. Carthage had two other players pick up individual awards in Amina Mansour as Best Setter and Rahma Agrebi earning Best Spiker.

With the loss, Nada Meawad was still able to secure the MVP title of the tournament with a match-best 25 points for the Shams.

Taking the third place position was Kenya’s Prisons, taking down Ahly of Egypt in a shocking five set battle, 3-2, (13-25, 25-10, 20-25, 25-22, 15-10) for the bronze medal. The win was at revenge for the Prisons, as they dropped their pool play match to Ahly 3-0.

In a tough 3-0 (33-31, 25-12, 25-18) battle, Kenya’s Pipeline took the fifth place position over Sonatrach.
