The American duo of Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena prevailed over Russian foes, Viacheslav Krasilnikov and Nikita Liamin in a tough three-set battle in the finals of the Moscow FIVB World Tour event. It took 52 minutes at extra points for the Americans to win 2-1, (21-17, 22-24, 18-16) against the Russians.
With the win, Dalhausser/Lucena took home the $10,000 first place prize while the Russian duo earned the $8,000 silver medal winning. The event in Moscow was Dalhaussers second time winning gold in the Russian capital, with the first time coming in 2008 with former partner Todd Rogers.
Since Dalhausser/Lucena paired up they have now won 14 FIVB World Tour medals, with this being their second on the year as they placed third at the Fort Lauderdale opener. In their overall match record, the pair has an 112-26 match mark together. Dalhausser now had 35 World Tour gold medals.
For the Russian duo, this is only their fifth FIVB World Tour event together, with a gold medal victory earlier this season at the Kish Island event.
