February 18 Recap: A Saturday of Sweeps

NORTH GREENVILLE DEF. LINCOLN MEMORIAL 3-0, (25-16, 25-19, 25-21)

North Greenville men’s volleyball posted 32 kills as a team in a straight set victory on Saturday as they moved past Lincoln Memorial. Matthew McManaway led the Crusaders with 10 kills and just one error, hitting .643. All but one of the attackers for North Greenville hit at or above .400.

MOUNT OLIVE DEF. QUEENS (CHARLOTTE) 3-0, (25-17, 25-16, 25-23)

The Mount Olive men’s volleyball team swept Queens University of Charlotte on Saturday in Kornegay Arena. Robert Poole and Jeff Yasalonis both recorded double-doubles. Poole posted 14 kills and 13 digs, while Yasalonis tabbed 35 assists and 11 digs.

BARTON DEF. BELMONT ABBEY 3-0, (25-13, 25-18, 25-16)

Barton men’s volleyball recorded yet another sweep on Saturday, defeating Belmont Abbey in Wilson Gym. Angelos Mandilaris carried the offense with 15 kills and just three errors for a .500 hitting percentage. Vasilis Mandilaris also hit .500 with 10 kills and two errors on 16 attacks. All of the attackers for the Bulldogs hit above .300 on the match.

EMMANUEL DEF. ALDERSON BROADDUS 3-2, (25-23, 25-17, 16-25, 25-22, 15-13)

The Emmanuel College men’s volleyball team earned a tough fought win over Alderson Broaddus, handing the Battlers their ninth loss of the 2018 season. Ackeem West led the offense for the Lions, putting away 14 kills on a .286 clip. Don Thompson posted 11 kills on a .444 hitting percentage, and Aleksa Lakic also tabbed double figure kills with 13 on a .400 attack.
