The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour has added more locations to their calendar, including first-time World Tour host Fiji.
The event is the first of the world tour’s calendar year, taking place from January 12-14 at Pacific Harbour.
“We are very excited and happy that we will host an event here in Fiji,” said Fiji Federation President Elesi Keterdromo. “The people have gone through the learning experience in the regional and international events.”
The tournament will last three days, hosting double-gender competition. The FIVB has announced a new five-star structure for events. This system will provide a platform and formation of events for a growing number of hosting countries. It provides more commercial flexibility and opportunities for the countries.
“There are also plans to have a Fiji Beach Open prior to the event. It is a very exciting time since we have been given an approval from the international body to host the event,” said Keterdromo.
This years calendar will feature singe and double-gender events. The men single-gender events include Kish Island and Espinho, while the women will take place in event in Sydney, Daegu, Ulsan and Monaco. The remaining events on the calendar will be double-gender events.
