FIVB U20/21 Rankings Updated, Russia & Dominican Republic Lead

The FIVB World Rankings for U20/21 for both men and women have been announced as of January 2017. The previous rankings were listed back in October of 2016, and the new results have been updated to reflect results from then on. The World Championship Tournament for the women June 16-25 this year in Mexico, while the men’s will take place in the Czech Republic June 23 – July 2.

All rankings are made based on results from the Age Group World Championships & qualification tournaments over the last two years.

MEN U21 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP RANKINGS

There are currently 127 ranked teams in the men’s U21 World Rankings. The top team at the moment is Russia with 122 points given to them by the FIVB point system. Right behind them is Argentina by only 2 points with a 120 point total. China isn’t far behind as well, sporting 110 points. All remaining nations have under 100 points.

  1. Russia – 122 points
  2. Argentina – 120 points
  3. China – 110 points
  4. Brazil – 96 points
  5. Italy – 78 points

The U23 Continental Rankings are different than the World Rankings and based on 2016-17. The 2015 season saw Russia leading, but this year the rankings have changed sightly.

  1. Argentina, China, Poland, USA, Egypt,
  2. Brazil, Iran, Cuba, Morocco, Ukraine
  3. Russia, Canada, Korea, Colombia,
  4. Italy, Japan, Guatemala, Chile,
  5. Turkey, Thailand, Barbados, Peru

WOMEN U20 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP RANKINGS

There are currently 107 ranked teams in the women’s U20 World Rankings. The Dominican Republic is currently leading the way with 130 points, 10 more than their next closest competitors, Brazil. Japan is third well behind with 96 points.

  2. Brazil – 120
  3. Japan – 96
  4. Italy – 94
  5. Serbia – 86

The U23 Continental Rankings are based on 2016-17, and the leaders haven’t changed much since last season where the Dominican Republic led.

  3. Peru, Turkey, Cuba, Thailand
  4. Puerto Rico, Vietnam, Belgium, Uruguay
