Former Dalhousie Libero Marisa Mota Finds First Pro Deal With Eurosped

Former Dalhousie libero Marisa Mota will move her talents to the Netherlands’ club Team Eurosped for the remainder of the season.

Mota was a member of the Tiger team that won five straight AUS conference titles in Canada. In her five seasons with Dalhousie, her role in the back row grew exponentially, helping the Tigers to their five titles. In her last two seasons, Mota finished the year in the top five of both total digs and digs per set in the league. Her back row abilities helped the team to a 71-10 record over five seasons – a feat that has not been accomplished in the AUS since 1960.

Team Eurosped is located in a small village, Vroomshoop, in the Dutch country with just 8,000 residents. The team is already halfway through their season and is still working to increase her level of play for the professional level’s speed. Her hopes are to crack a spot in the Canadian National Team at the end of the season, joining them for their summer competitions.

The deal with Team Eurosped is not her first one, as she had a previous one fall through, making this a necessary opportunity for her future volleyball career.

Currently, Team Eurosped is ranked fourth in the league with a 9-5 record on the year.
