Former Penn State MB/RS Cami May Transferring to San Diego

San Diego has made a huge splash in the transfer market with the addition of former Penn State middle blocker/right side Cami May. A sophomore-to-be for the fall of 2018 season, May will have three years left of play. Although the move has yet to be officially announced, it would be likely that she will be immediately eligible since she is changing leagues from the Big Ten to the West Coast Conference (WCC).

A 6’2″ native of Katy, Texas, May came to Penn State as a blue-chip recruit out of Cinco Ranch High School. She came in as a middle blocker but was recently listed as an opposite for the team. In her lone season as a true freshman with the Nittany Lions, she appeared in six matches and six sets, logging three kills and four blocks.

May took to Instagram to make the announcement, although the move likely won’t be made official until the school semester ends and paperwork goes through. The loss leaves Penn State, who went 33-2 and made the Final Four, with one middle blocker and one right side returning to their 2018 roster from the 2017 team.

Double thumbs up because I’m ecstatic to announce that I’ll be transferring to the University of San Diego!! Thanks to everyone who’s helped me along the way!

San Diego is coming off of a 25-5 season in which they went 17-1 and earned a share of the WCC Championship. They also made the second round of the NCAA Tournament and ended the year ranked 18th in the VolleyMob Top 25 Power Rankings. They have three middle blockers and one right side on par to return from 2017 to 2018 to join May at the position as they look for another league title.
