Former University of Colorado standout Taylor Simpson has announced in her official Instagram page that she is joining French club SF Paris St. Cloud next season. This will be Simpson’s second season in Europe, and her fourth pro season overall.
In 2014, Simpson finished her senior season with the University of Colorado putting down 598 kills in 33 matches. She was named to the NCAA, All-Pac-12, and the All-AVCA Pacific South Region First Teams. In addition, she was named as the female collegiate athlete of the year in 2014 by the Colorado Hall of Fame.
In 2015, Simpson began her international career with Changas de Naranjito in the Puerto Rican Women’s Volleyball League. She then transferred to the South Korean Women’s League, playing with Heungkuk Life for the 2015-16 season. In the 2016-17 season, she moved to Futura Volley Busto Arsizio in the Serie A1 League in Italy. She was also part of the United States team in the Pan American Cup in 2016.
At St. Cloud, she’ll find a team that went 10-12 in its last season, good enough for 7th place and a seed for the playoffs, where it lost to future tournament runner ups Cannes.
In the first paragraph you mention that the upcoming season in Paris will be Simpson’s first ever season in Europe. Further down in your story, you mention that she played the 2016-2017 season in Italy. Perhaps you’re unaware, but Italy is actually in Europe.
