2017 CEV EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS – WOMEN

Germany is coming off a third place finish at the FIVB World Grand Prix this summer, where the squad had some strong players leading the team.

Leading the squad on a normal basis is Louisa Lippmann, who took the helm of the team in the finals series to score 50 points on 42 kills, three blocks and five aces. Lippmann is joined by Jennifer Geerties and Leonie Schwertmann who also made huge impacts for the German squad over the summer.

The Germans were unable to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, but now they are out to show that they are a worthy opponent, not only in Europe but the world. They started this summer with their third place finish at the Grand Prix and will show Europe now at the European Championships. The team is missing one solid player that has decided to take her volleyball talents to the beach, Margareta Kozuch. The team is also missing strong veterans such as Maren Brinker and Mareen Apitz. Nevertheless, the young squad will show what they are made of.

Right now in Europe, Germany is ranked fourth overall, moving down slightly in their overall points value. In the world, the German crew is ranked 13th overall, staying even after the last event.
