Goa Volleyball Association in India Names New President

Earlier in March, the Volleyball Foundation of India announced an ad-hoc committee would be taking over the Kerala State Volleyball Association (KSVA), now it appears the Goa Volleyball Association (GVA) also is in the VFI’s crosshairs for change.

Irvin Soares, the president of the GVA and vice president of the Volleyball Foundation of India, was suspended from his duties on Friday. In his place, the GVA has named Shamsunder V. Tari as its interim president.

A swift move was necessary as the GVA will be hosting the state championship tournament in Goa the second week in April.

Soares was ousted in part due to his attendance at a meeting in February 2016 counter to the VFI, executive committee and the VFI president. Once he was suspended by the VFI, the Goa Volleyball Association followed suit, announcing his departure from its ranks.
