The former head volleyball coach at Wyoming Area Secondary Center, Nicholas Diaco, has filed two motions to reduce his prison sentence for sexting students.
Diaco was convicted on January 16 for two counts of corruption of minors and a count of unlawful conduct with a minor was sentenced to between 3 and 23 months in prison followed by an 18-month probationary period. A motion filed by Diaco’s lawyer is asking for his sentence to be changed to either house arrest or work release while a second motion asks for him to be paroled on the earliest possible date.
At Wyoming Area Secondary Center, Diaco was the team’s head coach for more than 3 years and the boys’ head volleyball coach at Dallas High School for more than 4 years prior.
Diaco was arrest back in September 2016 for sending “lengthy sexually explicit text messages” to female students he coached on the Wyoming Area volleyball team.
Through Diaco’s lawyer’s filings, Diaco claims that “the interest of justice will be best served” by moving the remainder of his sentence to house arrest of work release. Diaco has served just over half of his minimum required sentence of three months. They are also using that Diaco never had physical relations with his youth victims and has had no write-up while serving his small prison sentence thus far.
No ruling has been filed.
