Makayla Lundin, a setter with power-five conference experience, is heading to Idaho State for one final season of play. As a graduate transfer, Lundin will come in after spending her collegiate career with Colorado and Indiana.

The move represents a coming home party for Lundin, who is initially from Eagle, Idaho where she attended Bishop Kelly High School. She was a four-year letter winner in volleyball, pushing her squad to three straight state tournament appearances.

Lundin initially left the state to attend Colorado, where as a freshman she appeared in five matches and put together 88 assists, 14 digs and one ace. She then transferred to Indiana, where in two seasons she saw playing time in 56 sets and averaged 4.73 assists per set. Her career-high came in a five-set match against Middle Tennessee State when she recorded 51 assists and 10 digs. She was named to the Big-Ten All-Academic Team and won the IU Community Outreach award in 2015.

“Makayla brings a lot of high-level experience and leadership to Idaho State from her time in the Pac-12 and Big Ten conferences,” Idaho State head coach Rick Reynolds said in the Idaho State release. “I look forward to seeing her compete with our setters for the chance to lead our offense this fall. She is a hard worker and is determined to make an immediate impact here at Idaho State.”

Idaho State fell to just 16 wins last season after stringing together several 20-win years. In 2014 and 2015, they won 23 games but lost in the conference tournament finals. 2013 was the last time they won the conference tournament, as they also won 23 games and lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to Hawaii. After a dropoff in the win total in 2016, Idaho State will hope that Lundin can help get them back to the big dance.
