Semifinal #1
North #2 San Joaquin Delta College def North #1 Cabrillo College 3:2
(20-25, 21-25, 25-22, 25-20, 15-13)
San Joaquin Delta College pulled off the upset of the tournament, rallying from two sets down to stun Cabrillo College. All-American outside hitter Amilya Thompson led the way with 23 kills and 18 digs as the Mustangs reached their first state tournament title game since 2005, and will face Irvine Valley College in the final. Setter Mika Fithian also tallied a double-double with 51 assists and 12 digs while Avery Martin led the defense with 21 digs.
Delta led the match in hitting efficiency .277 to .222, digs 66-55, and blocks 10-6. Cabrillo led in kills 68-63, 61-57, and aces 8-5.
Camryn Rocha and Kyle Kvam (10 digs) each collected 18 kills for Cabrillo while setter Mari Molina handed out 53 assists. The loss was just the second of the year for the Seahawks who finish the season at 30-2.

South #1 Irvine Valley College def South #3 College of the Canyons 3:2
(25-19, 13-25, 28-26, 23-25, 16-14)
Irvine Valley College held off a hard charging College of the Canyons squad to avoid a monumental upset and book a spot in the CCCAA state tournament final against San Joaquin Delta. The two headed monster of Olivia Aguilar (26) and Taira Ka’awaloa (25) combined for 51 kills as the Lasers reached the final for the first time since 2014 when they won their first championship in school history.
Aguilar and Ka’awaloa both posted double-doubles as they tallied 18 and 12 digs respectively. Megan Ramseyer handed out 53 assists and Gabi Lau led the defense with 27 digs.
All-State attacker Emily Burns led the Cougars with 18 kills while Shayla Johnson and Caroline Page chipped in 15 and 14 kills respectively. Setter Rachel Perez dished out 48 assists and Demi Dawson tallied 28 digs and seven aces. The Cougars finish the season at 25-6.
Quarterfinals:
North #1 Cabrillo College def South #4 San Diego City College 3:0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-21)
The Cabrillo College Seahawks rolled to a straight set over the San Diego City College Knights, opening up the quarterfinals of the California Community College Athletic Association Women’s Volleyball State Tournament. Kylie Kvam posted a double-double with a match high 14 kills to go along with 10 digs. Mari Molina dished out 33 assists while Alyssa Nelson led the defense with 15 digs.
The Knights were led by Brielle McKinnon who collected a team high 15 digs to go along with eight kills (.400). This was the first ever appearance in the state tournament for S.D.C.C. who finish the season 23-4.
North #3 San Joaquin Delta College def South #2 Mira Costa College 3:1 (25-20, 21-25, 25-18, 25-18)
The San Joaquin Delta College Mustangs pulled off the first upset of the day by beating the Mira Costa College Spartans 3-1. Amilya Thompson, an AVCA first team All-American, posted a big double-double with 18 kills and 11 digs while Kyle Irwin-Paz filled up the stat sheet with 12 kills, eight blocks, and seven digs. The Mustangs hit just .188 on the match, but out-blocked Mira Costa 13-3.
Mustangs’ All-American setter Hayley Huntsman posted a double-double with 40 assists and 14 digs while Reilly Bosworth and Claire Kinder totaled 11 and 10 kills respectively. The loss ended a 19 match winning streak for Mira Costa who finish the season at 26-7.
South #3 College of the Canyons def North #2 Feather River College 3:0 (25-16, 26-24, 25-20)
The College of the Canyons Cougars celebrated their third ever trip to the state tournament by sweeping the Feather River College Golden Knights. All-State opposite Emily Burns led the way with 15 kills while Caroline Page chipped in 10 kills (.455) and eight digs. Shayla Johnson and Demi Dawson (12 digs) each fired three aces for the Cougars who held a 9-2 advantage in aces.
The Golden Knights were led by All-State middle blocker Cyan Blackdeer’s 15 kills. Precious Helekhai posted a double-double with 29 assists and 10 digs while Katie McKay paced the defense with 11 digs. Feather River finishes the season at 26-6.
South #1 Irvine Valley College def North #4 Folsom Lake 3:0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-15)
The Irvine Valley College Lasers remained undefeated, ending a phenomenal season for the Folsom Lake Falcons who made the state tournament in just their second year of existence. All-American setter Megan Ramseyer dished out 41 assists, leading the offense to a .304 hitting efficiency. Olivia Aguilar and Taira Ka’awaloa put down 18 and 17 kills respectively.
Folsom Lake was led by Meggie Bolstad who collected 19 digs, while Analyse Stapleton fired eight kills. The Falcons finish the year at 24-5.
