Junior college transfer Caitlyn Cooper has made her next collegiate stop known as she has committed to Kentucky for the 2018 season. A former member of the Iowa Western volleyball team, Cooper will be a junior with the Wildcats come next fall.

Interestingly enough, Cooper was originally committed to go to Kentucky at one point when she attended Ridge Point High School in Texas. As a senior at the prep level, she was a first-team Under Armour All-American too. For whatever reason though , she was unable to make it to Lexington and instead opted to attend the junior college route.

A 5’11” outside hitter originally from Missouri City, Texas, Cooper notched 550 kills this season with Iowa Western, good for third in the NJCAA. She also hit .299, had 438 digs (2.98 per set), 99 blocks (0.67 per set) and 24 aces.

As a guiding force with the team this past season, Cooper helped Iowa Western finish in seventh place of the NJCAA National Tournament after going 39-3 on the season.

Kentucky is currently in the midst of a season where they earned a co-SEC championship and are now embarking on the NCAA Tournament as the #4 seed overall. They have five outside hitters on the roster with one being a senior – meaning she will graduate when Cooper arrives. Two others are juniors too, indicating they should be on their last leg with the Wildcats while Cooper will have two seasons left.
