Trailing 16-12, Washington then reeled off a 7-2 run to go in front 19-18. Once again, USC regained control and was two points from the set at 23-21 before one final run sealed it for the Huskies. Washington closed out the set on a 5-1 run to take the opener, 26-24.

Washington carried its momentum into the second as it jumped out to an 11-3 lead early. But then USC found its groove as it came back to even the set at 14 apiece. The Huskies then went back in front 20-17 before the Trojans closed the set on an 8-2 run to even the match with a 25-22 victory.

The Huskies would take an early lead in the third with a 3-0 start, but the Trojans scored five of the next seven points to tie the match at 5 apiece. The rest of the set went back and forth and it was USC that earned the first set point at 24-23.

Washington got a kill from middle blocker Marin Grote and then an error on the Trojans to earn a set point at 25-24. USC took the next two points before a kill from Washington outside hitter Samantha Dreschel tied it again at 26. The Trojans then took advantage of a Washington error and got a kill from outside hitter Emily Baptista to take the set, 28-26.

USC jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the fourth and never looked back. Washington kept it close and cut the deficit to one at 14-13, but the Trojans were too strong down the stretch. USC finished the match on a 5-1 run to take the set, 25-18.
