Kiner-Falefa Transferring from North Texas to UNLV

Leka Kiner-Falefa moved from her home state of Hawaii to Denton, Texas, to begin her collegiate volleyball career in 2016. The 5-8 libero is on the move again, according to a tweet posted on her @falefakinerleka account March 22, this time to Las Vegas.

No confirmation of the transfer has been posted on the UNLV athletics website, but Kiner-Falefa has been removed from the 2017-18 North Texas volleyball roster. UNT went 13-19 in 2016, including a seventh place finish in Conference USA play. UNLV posted a 24-8 record, finished third in the Mountain West and advanced to the NCAA Second Round.

The Honolulu native saw action in all 32 matches as a rookie for the Mean Green in 2016, averaging 2.96 digs per set and pulling a team-best 335 digs. She posted double-digit dig tallies in 16 matches, including a career-high 30 against Utah Valley on Sept. 2. The rookie also served up three aces each against Nevada and UTEP.

As a prepster at the Mid-Pacific Institute, Kiner-Falefa was a three time All-Interscholastic League of Hawaii selection and a four year letterwinner. She played club for the Rox Rainbows Volleyball Club, which finished third at the 2014 USA Volleyball Junior National Championships.
