A Long Beach State trio reaped the rewards of helping their team defeat two ranked opponents on the road.
JOSH TUANIGA, LONG BEACH STATE – PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior • Setter • Long Beach, Calif. • Huntington Beach, Calif.
➜ Long Beach State junior Josh Tuaniga earned his first career Big West Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week award after directing the offense to a .417 attack percentage in road sweeps over No. 11 Lewis and No. 7 Loyola-Chicago.
➜ The 6-3 setter averaged 10.17 assists per set with 32 helpers against Lewis and 29 more versus Loyola-Chicago.
➜ Tuaniga also contributed offensively with six kills on 10 attempts without committing an error.
➜ He added two aces, 13 digsand six blocks for the week.
➜ With Tuaniga running the offense, No. 2 Long Beach State is hitting .418 on the year.

NICK AMADO, LONG BEACH STATE – DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior • Middle Blocker • Aliso Niguel, Calif. • Orange Coast College
➜ Long Beach State senior Nick Amado picked up his first career Big West Men’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honor as a frontline stalwart for the Beach, averaging 1.67 blocks per set in a road sweep of No. 11 Lewis and No. 7 Loyola-Chicago.
➜ The 6-foot-6 middle blocker notched a career-high seven blocks in the 27-25, 25-18, 25-19 win over the Flyers. He also chipped in three kills.
➜ Against the Ramblers, Amado recorded three more blocks to give him 10 for the week.
➜ Amado hit an impressive .667 against Loyola with nine kills and just one error in 12 attempts. Overall, Amado hit .375 (12-3-24) for the week.

SIMON ANDERSON, LONG BEACH STATE – FRESHMAN PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Middle Blocker • Middlefart, Denmark
➜ Long Beach State middle blocker Simon Anderson secured his second consecutive Big West Men’s Volleyball Freshman Player of the Week award with a strong all-around performance in a pair of road victories.
➜ Anderson hit .800 (13-1-15) from his middle blocker spot while averaging 2.17 kills, 0.50 aces and 1.17 blocks per set as the Beach won in three sets at No. 11 Lewis and No. 7 Loyola-Chicago.
➜ He put down eight kills in eight attempts against the Flyers, to go along with three aces and four block assists.
➜ Anderson knocked down five more kills against the Ramblers in a 25-15, 25-17, 25-21 effort, committing just one error in seven swings for .571 efficiency.
➜ Added one assist, two digs and three block assists to help the Beach improve to 6-0 overall.
