Lewis Bests GMU and More From January 13th

#9 LEWIS DEF. #20 GMU 3-0 (28-26, 25-18, 25-14)

ROMEOVILLE, Ill.– Lewis picked up its first win of the season by sweeping GMU on Saturday night in Neil Carey Arena. The Flyers managed an impressive .469 hitting percentage on the match.

Lewis setter, Matt Yoshimoto, ran the offense for the Flyers with 32 assists and two kills. Julian Moses led the team in kills, putting away 10 balls with zero errors on an .833 clip and scooping up three digs. Mitch Perinar also had an impressive offensive performance with 8 kills and zero errors on 14 attempts for a .571 hitting percentage. The team posted 9 blocks.

Christian Malias fueled the George Mason offense with 11 kills. He was fed by setter, Brian Negron, who recorded 27 assists. Negron also led the team in digs with four.

#1 LBSU DEF. #5 LOYOLA 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-21)

CHICAGO– LBSU swept Loyola on Saturday in the Gentile Arena. Long Beach had the lead the entire match.

LBSU setter, Josh Tuaniga, ran the offense for the 49ers with 29 assists. Kyle Ensing led the team in kills, putting away 12 balls on a .632 clip. Nick Amado also had an impressive offensive performance with nine kills and one error on 12 attempts for a .667 hitting percentage. The team posted 7 blocks.

Collin Mahan fueled the Loyola offense with 13 kills. He was fed by setter, Garrett Zolg, who recorded 29 assists. The team posted 21 digs and three blocks.

#7 HAWAII DEF. BARTON (RV) 3-1 (25-16, 20-25, 25-17, 25-22)

NASHVILLE, Tenn.– Hawaii defeated Barton on Saturday in the Grow the Game Challenge in Allen Arena at Lipscomb. This was the first time the two teams have met.

UH setter, Joe Worsley, ran the offense for the Warriors with 43 assists. Austin Matautia led the team in kills, putting away 13 balls on a .450 clip. Brett Rosenmeier also had an impressive offensive performance with 12 kills and four errors on 27 attempts for a .296 hitting percentage. The team posted 13 blocks.

Angelos Mandilaris fueled the Barton offense with 15 kills. He was fed by setter, Oscar Fiorentino, who recorded 34 assists. The team posted 27 digs on the night, with Wilfredo Rivera accounting for 13 of them.
