Kate Cowan, a 5-8 libero from Guyer High School in Denton, Texas has verbally committed to LSU.
Cowan managed 5.7 digs per set (622 digs in 110 sets) and added 42 assists in 2016 en route to first team all-conference and all-area honors and all-district defensive player of the year recognition. The academic all-district selection also made good on 94 percent of her 679 serve reception attempts. The three-time all-conference honoree garnered second team accolades as a sophomore and honorable mention honors as a freshman as her team won back-to-back conference titles. She also is a three-time all-district selection, earning second team honors as a sophomore and honorable mention accolades her freshman season.
Cowan plays club volleyball for the TAV 17 Black team. Her 13s team won the USA Division at the 2013 Nationals. Her 14s team finished tied for third in the open division, while her 15s team (TAV 15 Black) advanced to the quarterfinals at the 2015 Nationals.
