Louisville outside hitter Melanie McHenry was named ACC Player of the Week, while Syracuse outside hitter Ella Saada garnered the league’s Freshman of the Week nod.
McHenry averaged 5.5 kills per set, while hitting at a .333 clip and adding 3.33 digs per set in sweep of No. 24 Florida State and Miami (Fla.) this weekend. The sophomore kicked off her weekend with an 18-kill, 11-dig double-double, while hitting .385 in the upset of the Seminoles. The Speedway, Indiana, native followed that with 15 kills, nine digs and three blocks against the Hurricanes.
Saada notched 3.5 kills and 2.00 digs per set as well as four blocks and four aces in wins over Duke and Wake Forest. Against the Blue Devils, the rookie notched a team-leading 15 kills, while hitting .289 and adding eight digs and three blocks. Against the Demon Deacons, the Kfar Masaryk, Isreal native posted a team-best 13 kills, four aces and eight digs.
