The Larong Volleyball Sa Pilipinas, Inc. expects that the FIVB will formally recognize the POC-sanctioned NSA during their world congress this year, said the president Joey Romasanta.

The FIVB granted provisional recognition to the LVPI last May to organize international competition in the Philippines and for a national team to represent the country in FIVB sanctioned events. At the time of the LVPI being appointed as the top governing body, they suspended the Philippine Volleyball Federation. The PVF used to be recognized as the countries POC as the NSA for volleyball but the POC closed the door on the PVF forcing the FIVB to suspend the organization. The FIVB has given the PVF the opportunity to appeal the suspension.

Just last month, three of the top leagues in the Philippines met to discuss the possibility of unity. This included The Premier Volleyball League, Philippines Superliga and Philippine Volleyball Federation though it discluded the LVPI – the FIVB granted governing body for the Philippines.

There was another meeting for the governing bodies on January 15, to which Romasanta said that he and the LVPI would be staying away.
