Maldives Replaces India as Host Of 2018 FIVB Women’s World Championship Qualifier

The Maldives have taken the position as host country for the 2018 FIVB Women’s World Volleyball Championship Qualification Tournament of AVC Central Zone.

The tournament will take place from January 27-29, teams have until December 31 to reconfirm their participation to the AVC. The teams must reconfirm as India was initially chosen as the host country for the event. Due to internal problems in the Volleyball Federation of India, which resulted in the federation’s provisional suspension, the Asian Volleyball Confederation decided to shift the competition venue from India to Male’ in Maldives.

There have already been teams to reconfirm – Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal and Uzbekistan.

Only the top finishing team will qualify for the next round due to take place later next year.
