Long Beach State traveled to Canada for an exhibition weekend against McMaster in Ontario, with the Beach falling in four sets to the Canadian squad.

The Marauders out-hit the Beach in the first set, though it was a battle for both teams, as there were nine ties throughout the opening set and two lead changes before McMaster forged the 25-20 win. Despite an improved effort from Long Beach State, McMaster was still able to come ahead in the second set at 25-23.

The Beach rallied in the third set to avoid the sweep with a 25-18 third set score but faltered in the fourth set as the Marauders hit .478 in the fourth to take the win 25-20.

Andrew Richards led McMaster with 15 kills and three blocks while Brandon Koppers and Matt Passalent each contributed 10 kills. David Doty dished out 39 assists along with five digs while Jordan Pereira picked up a match-best 10 digs.

On Long Beach State’s side, Kyle Ensing led the squad with 13 kills, four digs and five blocks that included three solo blocks while TJ DeFalco and Simon Anderson each contributed 10 kills along with DeFalco’s seven digs.

The two teams will meet again on December 30 at 7 PM ET in the second half of the exhibition weekend.
