Melanie McHenry had 14 kills, 14 digs and three blocks to lead the University of Louisville to a 25-18, 25-23, 25-17 win at Clemson in ACC volleyball action Sunday afternoon.

UofL (10-18, 5-13) hit .317 with five blocks and eight aces, led by Morgan Miller‘s three. Tess Clark had eight kills on 16 swings with no errors and added four blocks.  Clemson (6-23, 1-17) was led by Megan McGlinley led Clemson with eight kills and two blocks.

“Hats off to Melanie McHenry, she led us in digs and kills and came away with an ace,” said Anne Kordes, UofL head coach. “It was a fun win for the entire team to get a sweep on the road. We will try to take this momentum into next week for the last two matches. ”

The Cardinals ran out to a 14-10 lead early in the first set.  Clemson cut the lead to one at 16-15 but the Cards went on a 4-0 run to move to 20-15 and then finished off the Tigers 25-18.  UofL hit .424 behind the hitting power of Tess Clark and Melanie McHenry to combined for nine kills and two blocks.

In the second set, Clemson stayed close with the Cards’ biggest lead coming late at 23-20 on an ace by Melanie McHenry, who also got UofL to set point on a kill.  Maggie DeJong got the win with a swing from the right side.  UofL hit .220 that set led by McHenry’s seven kills.

The Cards used runs of 6-0 and 5-0 to take an 18-9 lead in the third set. Clemson made a little run late to get to 22-17 but did not score again as Cards rolled 25-17 for the win.

The Cardinals play Syracuse Wednesday, Nov. 23 and faces Boston College Nov. 25 at 7 p.m. with both matches being played at the KFC Yum! Center.

CLEMSON, S.C. – The reigning ACC Champions defeated the Tigers, 3-0 (18-25, 23-25, 17-25) in their final home match of the 2016 season. Megan McGinley continued her hot streak as one of Clemson’s top offensive options over the course of the last 11 matches.

With eight kills and two errors on 15 attempts, McGinley hit .400 against the Cardinals, giving her a .306 hitting percentage in an 11-match span with 71 kills on 163 attempts. McGinley also added an ace and two solo blocks to her line, giving her a team-leading 11 points on the afternoon. Leah Perri found the most success on the pins, throwing down eight kills, complemented by a block and nine digs. Tori Woogk and Kailey Harvell tallied six and five kills respectively.

Keely Hayes set the offense to 11 assists with 14 digs to finish the match with a double-double. Both setters, Hayes and Taylor Daniel aced Louisville as well.

Clemson finishes the 2016 season this week with matchups against Florida State and Miami. The Tigers will take on the Seminoles on Wednesday, November 23 at 1:00 p.m., and will conclude their season against the Hurricanes on Friday, November 25 at 12:00 p.m.
